Your Daily Calorie Needs
To maintain your weight, you need approximately calories per day.
To lose 0.5 kg per week, aim for calories per day.
To gain 0.5 kg per week, aim for calories per day.
How It Works
This tool uses a scientifically-backed formula to estimate your Basal Metabolic Rate (BMR)—the number of calories your body needs at rest. Then, it factors in your activity level to calculate your total daily calorie needs. Here’s the breakdown:
- For men: BMR = (10 × weight in kg) + (6.25 × height in cm) - (5 × age) + 5
- For women: BMR = (10 × weight in kg) + (6.25 × height in cm) - (5 × age) - 161
Once your BMR is calculated, it’s multiplied by your activity level to give you your daily calorie needs. From there, the tool adjusts for weight loss (subtracting 500 calories) or weight gain (adding 500 calories) to help you reach your goals.
